Turkey Stakes Claim To Host 2020 Olympics

(RTTNews) - Turkey has staked claim for hosting the 2020 Olympics and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says choosing Istanbul for the games would amount to a peace message to counter the so-called clash of civilizations.
In a televised address to the nation on Tuesday, Erdogan said his government was "strongly" backing Istanbul's fifth bid to host the games and that selecting the city, which straddles Europe and Asia, would strengthen the alliance between differing cultures and religions.
Istanbul's rivals, Tokyo and Madrid, have already hosted the games twice in the past and it is Istanbul's turn to host the summer games, he said.
