(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top utilities companies were mixed at the close of trading:

American Electric Power Co. rose $.15 or .4 percent, to $39.25.

Consolidated Edison Inc. Holding Co. rose $.22 or .4 percent, to $61.50.

Dominion Resources Inc. fell $.07 or .1 percent, to $53.61.

Duke Energy Corp. rose $.13 or .6 percent, to $22.88.

Exelon rose $.08 or .2 percent, to $36.90.

PG&E fell $.20 or .5 percent, to $43.84.

Southern Co. rose $.09 or .2 percent, to $46.55.
