Baxter International Inc. rose $.39 or .8 percent, to $51.87.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. rose $.57 or 1.6 percent, to $35.36.

Hospira rose $.44 or 1.3 percent, to $34.02.

Johnson & Johnson rose $.24 or .4 percent, to $66.63.

Eli Lilly & Co. rose $.31 or .7 percent, to $42.07.

Merck rose $.73 or 1.9 percent, to $40.18.

Pfizer rose $.13 or .6 percent, to $22.73.
