(AP:LAS VEGAS) Nevada gambling regulators have approved a business relationship between the world's largest casino company and a Gibraltar company that offers online wagering in the United Kingdom.

The Nevada Gaming Commission approved the relationship between Caesars Entertainment Corp. and 888 Holdings PLC on Thursday.

The vote marks the first time regulators have explicitly allowed a casino operator to do significant business with a foreign company that offers gambling on the Internet.

Caesars and 888 executives and lawyers told the commission they have been careful in assessing their relationship and the legalities of Internet gambling.

888 stopped offering online wagers in the United States after a federal law in 2006 made it illegal.

Earlier Thursday, Nevada lawmakers heard testimony in Carson City about a bill that would legalize online poker.
