Strike at Spain's Iberia cancels flights10 days ago
(AP:MADRID) Spanish airline Iberia has canceled 368 flights because of a two-day strike by flight attendants seeking pay increases.
Iberia said in a statement Tuesday that flights to resort areas like the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean are not affected by the strike, which will last through Wednesday.
It also said the vast majority of the company's long-haul flights will also operate normally.
A similar stoppage was staged late last month by two of five unions representing the airline's cabin crew workers.
Iberia and its regional unit operate more than 1,000 flights a day.
The two striking unions called the stoppages to pressure for pay raises after a wage freeze instituted in 2005.
Unions met with company officials Sunday but failed to reach an agreement.
