ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Archer Daniels Midland Co. said its first-quarter profit tumbled 53 percent as the global recession dragged down demand for crops and ethanol, but demand is improving in some key markets.

NEW YORK (AP) _ Corporate Executive Board Co. said its third-quarter profit fell 29 percent on weaker revenue, but the corporate strategy and human resources consultancy beat analyst expectations and shares gained.

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. (AP) _ Skilled Healthcare Group Inc. said its profit grew 6 percent in the third quarter, but the nursing facility operator lowered its revenue estimate for the year, sending its shares tumbling.

CHICAGO (AP) _ Travelers are still vacationing, but they're spending less when they do, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. said in reporting that its third-quarter profit and revenue tumbled because it deeply discounted fares.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) _ Health care real estate investment trust HCP Inc. said its third-quarter results plunged on a series of impairments and legal charges.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Wood-products maker Louisiana-Pacific Corp. said its loss narrowed in the third quarter but sales dropped almost 21 percent as weakness in home building continued.
