(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top utilities companies were mixed at the close of trading:

American Electric Power Co. rose $.25 or .6 percent, to $45.27.

Consolidated Edison Inc. Holding Co. rose $.12 or .2 percent, to $60.73.

Dominion Resources Inc. rose $.23 or .4 percent, to $53.58.

Duke Energy Corp. rose $.33 or .5 percent, to $65.60.

Exelon rose $.37 or 1.0 percent, to $37.48.

PG&E fell $.22 or .5 percent, to $43.21.

Southern Co. rose $.26 or .6 percent, to $46.80.
