(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top insurance companies were mixed at the close of trading:

ACE L rose $2.41 or 3.0 percent, to $81.70.

Aflac Inc. fell $.17 or .3 percent, to $50.11.

American International Group rose $.35 or .9 percent, to $37.21.

MBIA fell $.20 or 1.8 percent, to $10.80.

MGIC Investments Corp. fell $.08 or 3.8 percent, to $2.02.

MetLife rose $.03 or .1 percent, to $37.11.

XL Group PLC rose $.30 or 1.2 percent, to $25.76.
