Report: Fire forces plane evacuation in Turkey

(AP:ANKARA, Turkey) Turkey's state-run news agency says passengers, some in a panic, were evacuated from a plane at the Antalya airport after reports of a cockpit fire.

The Anadolu Agency says the crew detected smoke on the Trondheim, Norway-bound plane as it readied for take-off early Sunday. Anadolu said rescue crews responded immediately and no one was injured, but the fire caused panic among passengers.

The Airport News website reported the plane was operated by Corendon Airlines, based in Antalya, near the Mediterranean coast. The report cited an airline statement, but officials at Corendon refused immediate comment to the Associated Press.

An official at Antalya airport confirmed an incident involving smoke inside a plane but provided no other information. Airport News said the passengers were flown to Trondheim aboard another plane.
