(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top insurance companies were mixed at the close of trading:

ACE L fell $.06 or .1 percent, to $78.07.

Aflac Inc. rose $.06 or .1 percent, to $48.67.

American International Group rose $.67 or 1.9 percent, to $35.90.

MBIA fell $.18 or 1.7 percent, to $10.64.

MGIC Investments Corp. fell $.11 or 6.1 percent, to $1.70.

MetLife rose $.07 or .2 percent, to $35.23.

XL Group PLC rose $.08 or .3 percent, to $24.94.
