The Associated Press

SOMETHING FISHY: Smoked salmon tainted with salmonella bacteria has sickened hundreds in the Netherlands, sparking major recalls there and in the U.S. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is also investigating the cause of a multi-state outbreak of the same strain of salmonella.

ORIGINS: Health officials in the Netherlands said the salmon has been traced to the Dutch company Foppen.

COSTCO CATCH: In the U.S., Foppen sells only through Costco. The wholesale club has pulled the items from shelves and blocked products from scanning at registers. Customers who bought the product will be contacted.
