NH attorney general encourages mortgage claims
244 days ago
(AP:CONCORD, N.H.) About 7,600 New Hampshire residents who lost their homes due to improper foreclosure will be finding out soon how to apply for their share of a national settlement.
The attorney general's office says letters will be going out next week to those who qualify for the settlement, which involves 49 states and the nation's five largest banks. The amount of individual payments will depend on the number of people who file, but Attorney General Michael Delaney says they are likely to be in the range of $1,200 to $1,500 per borrower.
The settlement applies to people who lost their primary residence due to an improper foreclosure process between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2011 and had mortgages with Bank of America Corp., Citi, Wells Fargo & Co., JP Morgan Chase & Co. or Ally/GMAC.
