Overload truck enforcement at record level in ND

(AP:BISMARCK, N.D.) The North Dakota Highway Patrol says its enforcement of oversize and overweight trucks is at a record level.

Troopers say the state has collected $2.1 million from in enforcement penalties so far this year, compared with $1.9 million for all of 2011.

Highway Patrol Capt. Eldon Mehrer says the patrol has enforced more than 1,300 overload violations this year, which also is more than all of last year.

Troopers say 14 of the patrol's 22 motor carrier troopers are stationed in the oil patch region of western North Dakota.
