Comment sought on utility performance incentives

(AP:RICHMOND, Va.) Virginia regulators are seeking public comment on how it should determine performance incentives for electric utilities.
State law allows the State Corporation Commission to increase or decrease an energy provider's return on equity for positive or negative performance for electric service in Virginia.
Regulators can measure this based on generating plant performance, customer service and operating efficiency.
The commission has scheduled a public hearing on the issue for Nov. 19 in Richmond. Written comments must be submitted by Nov. 9.
