Comcast Corp. rose $.68 or 2.2 percent, to $32.29.

Walt Disney Co. rose $.23 or .5 percent, to $49.94.

Gannett rose $.23 or 1.6 percent, to $14.38.

New York Times Co. rose $.11 or 1.4 percent, to $7.91.

News Corp. rose $.74 or 3.2 percent, to $23.56.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.63 or 1.6 percent, to $38.98.

Viacom Inc. rose $.85 or 1.7 percent, to $49.52.
