(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top department store retail companies were up at the close of trading:

Kohl's Corp. rose $1.67 or 3.5 percent, to $49.27.

Macy's Inc. rose $.96 or 2.7 percent, to $36.54.

Nordstrom rose $1.06 or 2.0 percent, to $54.40.

J.C. Penney Co. rose $.79 or 3.6 percent, to $23.00.

Saks rose $.40 or 3.9 percent, to $10.65.

Sears Holdings Corp. rose $1.68 or 3.3 percent, to $51.85.

TJX Companies rose $.50 or 1.1 percent, to $44.70.
