Mo. agrees to drug, electronic book settlements
261 days ago
(AP:JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Several million dollars could flow to Missouri under legal settlements involving electronic books and anti-psychotic drugs.
Attorney General Chris Koster said Thursday that the state will receive $4.3 million as part of a $181 million settlement between 37 states and Janssen Pharmaceuticals. The settlement resolves allegations that Janssen used unfair and deceptive practices when it marketed Risperdal for unapproved or off-label uses, such as for children or to treat dementia in the elderly.
Under another settlement announced Thursday, Missouri consumers could receive $1.1 million as part of a nationwide $76 million settlement with Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins Publishers and Simon & Schuster. It resolves allegations that the companies conspired to raise the prices of electronic books. The settlement covers purchases between April 1, 2010, and May 21, 2012.
