Walt Disney Co. rose $.16 or .3 percent, to $49.85.

Gannett fell $.21 or 1.4 percent, to $15.14.

New York Times Co. rose $.11 or 1.2 percent, to $9.20.

News Corp. rose $.12 or .5 percent, to $23.60.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.36 or .8 percent, to $42.77.

Viacom Inc. rose $.51 or 1.0 percent, to $50.96.
