(AP:NEW YORK) Shares of some top insurance companies were mixed at the close of trading:

ACE L fell $.38 or .5 percent, to $72.74.

Aflac Inc. rose $.16 or .4 percent, to $45.86.

American International Group rose $.09 or .3 percent, to $32.60.

MBIA rose $.35 or 3.5 percent, to $10.41.

MGIC Investments Corp. rose $.05 or 4.6 percent, to $1.13.

MetLife rose $.32 or .9 percent, to $34.97.

XL Group PLC fell $.12 or .5 percent, to $22.98.
