(AP:NEW HAVEN, Conn.) A roundtable discussion is planned in New Haven, Conn. to discuss efforts to preserve Long Island Sound.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, U.S. Sens. Joe Lieberman and Richard Blumenthal, state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Commissioner Dan Esty, and representatives from environmental organizations are expected to participate in the event, which will be held at The Sound School Regional Vocational Aquaculture Center.

Various state and federal officials will also be on hand, including the Environmental Protection Agency's regional administrator, the regional director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the district commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The group plans to discuss achievements that have been made over the past two decades to preserve the Sound, as well as its current health and ways to better protect it.
