Gannett fell $.19 or 1.3 percent, to $14.19.

New York Times Co. fell $.15 or 1.9 percent, to $7.76.

News Corp. fell $.17 or .7 percent, to $23.39.

Time Warner Inc. fell $.38 or 1.0 percent, to $38.60.

Viacom Inc. fell $.41 or .8 percent, to $49.11.
