Japanese All Industry Activity Recovers In April

(RTTNews) - Japan's all industry activity grew slightly as expected in April after declining for three straight months, data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry revealed Wednesday.

The all industry activity index rose 0.1 percent month-on-month in April, following a 0.3 percent fall a month ago.

Construction output dipped 5.6 percent and industrial production was down 0.2 percent. At the same time, tertiary activity fell 0.3 percent, slower than the 0.6 percent decrease seen in the previous month. On the other hand, the indices of government services gained 0.2 percent.

On a yearly basis, all industry activity grew at a pace of 4.1 percent, down from March's 5.5 percent expansion.
