India has removed the limit on duty-free white sugar imports until March 2010, a senior government official said Monday.

Rain will stall Brazil's main center-south sugarcane harvest next week, according to weather service Somar on Friday.

A total of 1,421 metric tons of cocoa beans were bought for grinding between August and October of the ongoing 2009-2010 season by the Cameroon affiliate of Switzerland-based Barry Callebaut AG, statistics published Monday by Cameroon's commodity supervisor, the National Cocoa and Coffee Board, show.

The Cameroon affiliate of Switzerland-based Barry Callebaut AG bought 74 metric tons of cocoa beans for crushing between August and September, far down from the 4,797 tons bought during same period last year, according to data from the National Cocoa and Coffee Board, or NCCB.

Barry Callebaut AG aims to dispose of its consumer chocolate business next year after a failed attempt to sell to Spain's Natra SA earlier this year, the Swiss chocolate company's chief executive says in an interview appearing in Saturday's Finanz und Wirtschaft.

Cocoa traders in Cameroon's second main cocoa-growing area, the Center Region, have resumed selling their produce as market prices slipped to XAF1,200-1,250 a kilogram from XAF1,300-1,350/kg, farmers and traders told Dow Jones Newswires on Saturday.

U.S. cocoa futures fell Friday but ended off session lows, pressured as traders shied away from riskier investments like commodities and bought the dollar instead.

Prices at Tanzania's weekly Moshi coffee exchange auction Thursday were slightly down on the previous auction taking their lead from ICE futures on the U.S. exchange, a Tanzania Coffee Board official said Friday.

Arabica coffee futures fell modestly Friday, though values ended off their lowest levels of the day, on buying related to the dollar coming down from its highs and traders buying back previously sold positions.
