LONDON (Dow Jones)--Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT) wants to continue its dialogue with labor representatives for Cadbury PLC's (CBY) workers following an initial meeting Wednesday, a company spokesman told Dow Jones Newswires.

Seeking to avoid political issues that sidelined previous merger efforts, the philanthropic trust overseeing Hershey Co. (HSY) has sought the blessing of the Pennsylvania attorney general for a potential $17 billion bid for Cadbury PLC (CBY, CBRY.LN), said several people familiar with the matter.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Trian Fund Management, the New York-based hedge fund of activist investor Nelson Peltz, has sold a sizable stake in Cadbury PLC (CBY), according to U.K. regulatory filings Wednesday.

SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Rhodia SA (RHA.FR) denied on Wednesday that it is considering a possible takeover of assets in Brazil's ethanol sector.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--World sugar stocks are being diminished by tight supplies, sugar merchant Czarnikow said Wednesday.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Associated British Foods PLC (ABF.LN), an international food, ingredients and retail group, said Wednesday it has completed the sale of its Polish sugar business, British Sugar (Overseas) Polska SP. z.o.o., to Pfeifer & Langen Polska S.A., following clearance from the Polish National Competition Authority.

ICE futures U.S. world sugar settled higher on Wednesday in light trading ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S., boosted by a weak U.S. dollar and positive economic news.

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (Dow Jones)--Two French chocolate companies Wednesday said they plan to jointly build a new cocoa grinding plant in Cameroon next year.

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (Dow Jones)--Cameroon cocoa farmers need to lift the quality of their cocoa, according to Claude Streit, owner of French chocolate firm Le Criollo, who is spearheading a campaign to promote the virtues of wind-drying.

U.S. cocoa futures rallied Wednesday, supported by a rising tide of commodities linked to a weak U.S. dollar and investors adopting riskier investments.

Diedrich Coffee Inc.'s (DDRX) board of directors has decided Tuesday's sweetened $265 million bid from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR) is a "superior proposal" to one from competitor Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc. (PEET) in an ongoing bidding war for the coffee maker.

MEXICO CITY (Dow Jones)--Physical trading continued at a quiet pace this week in the cash arabica coffee markets of Mexico, Peru and Central America as business slowed ahead of the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, traders said Wednesday.

Arabica coffee futures rallied as traders placed long bets on the commodity sector in the face of a falling U.S. dollar and gains in the key gold and crude oil markets.
