DJ Brazil Fipe's Sao Paulo CPI Index Up 0.33% In 4 Weeks To Nov 23

SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--The pace of consumer inflation in Brazil's largest city, Sao Paulo, slowed slightly in the four weeks ended Nov. 23, as housing and transport prices decelerated, the Fipe research foundation said Wednesday.

Fipe, which is affiliated with the University of Sao Paulo, said its consumer price index rose 0.33% in the period compared with a rise of 0.34% in the four weeks ended Nov. 15.

The figure was in line with market forecasts for an increase of between 0.26% and 0.39%.

Housing prices picked up 0.36% from 0.52% earlier, while transport prices accelerated 0.54% from 0.68%.

With recent figures indicating inflation is under control, Brazil's central bank kept the Selic base interest rate at 8.75% last month, its lowest level ever.
