SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Bunge Limited (BG) has signed an agreement to buy Brazilian privately held sugarcane company Moema, the local Estado newswire reported after market hours on Monday.

Peet's Coffee & Tea Inc. (PEET) proposed to raise the size of its deal for Diedrich Coffee Inc. (DDRX) to $32 a share in cash and stock, or $265 million, after rival Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Inc. (GMCR) proposed buying the company for $30 a share.

Uganda's 2009-10 (October-September) coffee output is expected to hit 3.4 million 60-kilogram bags, compared with 3.06 million bags produced in the 2008-09 season, a spokesman for the state-run Uganda Coffee Development Authority said Tuesday.

In the final implementation of the 2009-10 sugar reform, EU sugar production is forecast to increase almost 2 million MT as a result of record beet sugar yields, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture attache report posted Monday on the Foreign Agricultural Services Web site.

NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--Winter wheat sowing in the major-producing Indian state of Uttar Pradesh won't be affected by a delay in the harvest of sugar cane, the state's most widely grown summer crop, a senior government official said Tuesday.

ICE Futures U.S. sugar futures were at sharply lower levels Monday, despite weakness in the dollar and strength in other commodity markets. Analysts said a lack of underlying physical demand at the current high price levels sparked long liquidation.

MALABO, Equatorial Guinea (AFP)--An opposition candidate in Equatorial Guinea's presidential election has accused President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of abusing state funds to finance his campaign for Sunday's poll.

U.S. cocoa futures fell slightly Monday, as traders sold near the highs to lock in profits, in a session marked by light volume.

ABIDJAN (Dow Jones)--Ivory Coast exported 11,448 metric tons of robusta coffee in October, the first month of the 2009-10 season, up by 7,976 tons, or more than treble, the 3,472 tons shipped in the preceding season, official port data showed Monday.

Arabica coffee futures closed higher Monday on support from a weak U.S. dollar, buying in the commodity indexes and a strong equity market, though gains were trimmed after prices met resistance and traders took profits.
