SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--The pace of consumer inflation in Brazil's largest city, Sao Paulo, picked up in the four weeks ended Nov. 15, as the rise in health-related costs and personal expenses accelerated in the period, the Fipe research foundation said Tuesday.
Fipe, which is affiliated with the University of Sao Paulo, said its consumer price index rose 0.34% in the period compared with a rise of 0.31% in the four weeks ended Nov. 7.
The figure was in line with market forecasts for an increase of between 0.31% and 0.36%.
Health-related costs picked up 0.37% in the four weeks ended Nov. 15, compared with an increase of 0.23% seen in the four weeks ended Nov. 7.
Personal expenses increased 0.32% from a rise of 0.22% in the previous period.
With recent figures indicating inflation is under control, Brazil's central bank last month kept the Selic base interest rate at 8.75%, its lowest level ever.
