Brazil Fipe's Sao Paulo CPI Index At 0.31% In 4 Wks To Nov 791 days ago
SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--The pace of consumer inflation in Brazil's largest city, Sao Paulo, picked up in the four weeks ended Nov. 7, as housing prices accelerated in the period, the Fipe research foundation said Tuesday.
Fipe, which is affiliated with the University of Sao Paulo, said its consumer price index rose 0.31% in the period compared with a rise of 0.25% in October.
The figure was in line with market forecasts for an increase of between 0.28% and 0.34%.
Housing prices picked up 0.56% in the four weeks ended Nov. 7 compared with an increase of 0.53% seen in October.
Food prices dropped 0.25% in the period compared with a fall of 0.45% in the previous period.
With recent figures indicating inflation is under control, last month Brazil's central bank kept the Selic base interest rate at 8.75%, its lowest level ever.
