JOHANNESBURG (I-Net Bridge)--Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI) Chief Executive Nick Holland sees the natural long-term floor price for gold at between $700 and $800 a troy ounce

Rebels of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, or FDLR, have been forced to abandon a number of lucrative mining areas in eastern Congo due to the ongoing military operations by Congo's U.N.-backed army, a human rights group said Tuesday.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Gold futures aren't reacting to tension between the west and Iran because of already elevated prices and anticipation that the political wrangling over the Islamic republic's nuclear program won't disrupt oil supply or raise crude prices.

Congo's senate has asked the government to punish mining companies and individuals implicated in mismanagement and corruption in the country's mining sector, U.N.-sponsored Radio Okapi reports Tuesday.

JOHANNESBURG (I-Net Bridge)--Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI), the world's fourth-largest gold producer, is aiming to grow from a producer of 4 million troy ounces to 5 million over a four- to five-year time horizon.

JOHANNESBURG (I-Net Bridge)--The National Union of Mineworkers Tuesday said more than 4,000 mine workers would march to DRDGold Ltd.'s (DRD.JO) Blyvoor main offices in Carletonville as strike action entered a third week.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Gold futures settled essentially unchanged after paring profit-taking loses and recovering from slight downward pressure from lower oil prices and a higher U.S. dollar.
