LONDON (Dow Jones)--There's unlikely to be any significant recovery in platinum group metals prices in the next 12 months, the world's third biggest platinum producer said Monday.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Lonmin PLC (LMI.LN), the world's third-biggest platinum miner, said Monday it swung to a loss during the first half of its fiscal year and announced a rights issue to raise $457 million in the face of uncertain demand for the metals it produces.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Fresnillo (FRES.LON), a silver and gold producer, said Monday that it strongly rejects MAG Silver's statements in its press release dated May 8, regarding the proposed take over offer for MAG by Fresnillo.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Lonmin PLC (LMI.LN) Chief Executive Ian Farmer Monday said the world's third-biggest platinum miner has decided to shore up its balance sheet in the face of uncertain platinum demand and the possibility of a stronger South African rand against the dollar.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Gold clearing statistics in April fell on the month across the board, but silver statistics were mixed, the London Bullion Market Association said Monday.

LONDON (Dow Jones)--Gold and silver holdings in Zurich Cantonal Bank, or ZKB's, exchange-traded fund rose on the week to May 8, while platinum and palladium remain unchanged, ZKB data showed.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Gold futures ended "lackluster" trading Monday slightly lower on pressure from a mildly higher U.S. dollar, but the metal did find some support from faltering equities.
