Russia Brings Forth Law On Energy-Saving And Efficiency 76 days ago
(RTTNews) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed into law a federal bill on energy-saving and energy-efficiency, besides making amendments to several pieces of legislation.
The bill, approved by the State Duma (Parliament) November 11, and by the Federation Council November 18, regulates energy- saving and energy-efficiency issues and imposes restrictions on the use of incandescent light bulbs.
Besides making the marking of electrical goods according to their energy-efficiency mandatory, it makes compulsory maintaining a commercial inventory of energy resources, as also introducing energy-efficiency standards for new buildings and installations.
It further calls for less funds for energy-resource purchases and maintenance of common areas of apartment blocks by energy-efficiency parameters.
Organizations consuming high energy would be required to carrying out energy-saving research, approve energy-saving and energy-efficiency programs, and introduce energy-dependent contracts. There will also be transition to a long-term tariff regulation and a unified energy-efficient information and analytical energy-efficiency network.
