Bay Street Stocks Drop For Second Straight Session 81 days ago
(RTTNews) - Canadian stocks closed lower, on Friday backing further off a yearly high. Energy stocks led the decliners as crude oil fell.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index dipped 20.97 points or 0.18% to finish at 11,579.33. The market dropped for a second straight session after rising in four in a row.
Energy stocks fell 0.7%. Nexen (NXY.TO) and Canadian Oil Sands (COS.UN.TO) dropped 2.1% and Imperial Oil (IMO.TO) dropped 1.8%.
In corporate news, shareholders of Terra Industries voted three nominees of CF Industries Holdings into the company's board, giving the latter a better-hand in the takeover battle involving Agrium (AGU.TO). Shares of Agrium rose 0.6%.
