Taiwan's Q3 Current Account Surplus Quadruples From Last Year 81 days ago
(RTTNews) - Taiwan's current account surplus quadrupled in the third quarter from the corresponding period in previous year, the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan) said Friday. This was helped by an improvement in all the accounts.
The current account surplus widened to US$ 8.24 billion in the third quarter from US$ 2.06 billion in the same period the previous year. The goods account improved to US$ 6.79 billion from US$ 1.82 billion last year, while the income account surplus increased to US$2.37 billion from US$ 1.7 billion.
Moreover, the deficit in the services account decreased to US$0.34 billion from US$0.79 billion, and the deficit in the current transfers account improved to US$ 0.59 billion from US$0.67 billion.
Meanwhile, the capital account showed a deficit of US$ 0.02 billion in the third quarter compared to a deficit of US$ 0.03 billion in the same period last year. The financial account registered a surplus of US$ 6.51 billion, reversing a deficit of US$6.38 billion seen in the previous year.
