Italian Industrial Output Falls More Than Expected In September 91 days ago
(RTTNews) - Italy's seasonally adjusted industrial production dropped 5.3% month-on-month in September, statistical office Istat said Tuesday. That was the first fall in six months. Economists had forecast a decline of 4% after August's revised increase of 5.8% in August.
After adjusting for calendar variations, industrial output fell 15.7% after an 18.6% drop in August. Adjusted industrial production has been falling since May 2008. It was forecast to drop by 15.8%.
On an unadjusted basis, industrial production fell 15.3%, slightly faster than a 14.9% decline recorded in August. It extended a stretch of fall that started in July 2008.
