British Pound Eases From Early Highs Against Majors

(RTTNews) - The British pound traded down from previous session's uptrend against major currencies during New York trading on Monday.

After hitting a new multi-month high of 1.6846 at about 5:00 am ET, the pound ticked down against the US dollar in New York deals today. Currently, the pound-greenback pair is worth 1.6711 form Friday's New York session close of 1.6620.

The sterling edged down against the euro and the Swiss franc in New York session, after hitting multi-week highs of 0.8899 and 1.6981, respectively, by about 5:00 am ET. The pound is currently trading near 0.8975 against the euro and 1.6855 versus the franc, which may be compared to last week's closing values of 0.8936 and 1.6914, respectively.

The British currency also plunged against its Japanese counterpart from European session's fresh multi-day high of 151.66, today. The pair that closed Friday's New York session at 149.51, is now worth 150.41.
