Malta Industrial Production Rises In August

(RTTNews) - Malta's industrial production increased for the first time in three months in August, data released by the National Statistics Office showed Thursday.

The industrial production index rose seasonally-adjusted 1 percent from July, when it dropped 0.3 percent. In June, the index remained flat.

Both capital and consumer goods logged strong growth of 2.5 percent each. Consumer durables registered robust growth of 7.7 percent. Energy output increased 1.7 percent. Meanwhile, production of intermediate goods declined 0.6 percent.

Year-on-year, industrial production increased working-day adjusted 4.7 percent, after growing 3.5 percent in July. The August growth figure was the biggest in at least a year.
